This will probably may sound weird but what I really love about Tear’s love for Luke is that she barely showed it during the game.
Not that I’m saying that it’s bad when female characters spend half the game sighing and blushing every time their love interest shows up or says something nice to them, but I think it’s really nice to see one game where the love she feels for him is handled differently. In Abyss, as the game progresses and especially after Tower of Rem and towards the end you can already tell Tear and Luke are in love with each other, even if subconsciously, but none of them shows major signs of it.
Tear doesn’t agree to everything Luke says, she’s not nice to him because she likes him and she doesn’t give him any special treatment for it. She treats him like she would anyone else. She doesn’t sigh affectionately or mutter love words when she’s alone. When she’s with Natalia, she doesn’t ask for advice. She doesn’t do anything about it, she just lets it sleep quietly within her.
At some point in the game Tear alone started realizing that she felt something different for Luke, something that she probably couldn’t name right away but as the game progressed she understood what it was and kept it within herself. I believe this is when Tower of Rem occurs because just thinking about Luke disappearing makes her shiver in desperation and fear, so much, that she’s willing to go out to the danger zone to protect him.
Tear is not afraid to show her dislike for Luke’s actions when he does something wrong and she never favors him over anyone else. Maybe it’s just me, but I think this adds a lot of realism to their relationship because love isn’t always about daydreaming and smiling and humming all the time. People don’t always talk about it. It’s not always "Oh damn! I’m in love, fuck WHAT DO I DO????". Love is not always that transparent. Sometimes it’s something as simple and natural as a simple realization like "Oh, okay."
When Tear spends her last night with Luke in the Albiore, she’s not blushing or seeking any physical contact with him. She’s just happy to have him by his side. And not once she mentions anything weird to him like "There’s something I want to talk to you after this is all done."
Tear’s love for Luke is as quiet and soft and silent as she herself is towards the people around her. She doesn’t want to cause any ruckus around it, which is probably why she doesn’t make any effort to show it to Luke. She just waits for the right time.
I don’t know why I suddenly decided to write all this, but yeah.
But just as I was practicing with Master Van, I heard a strange
song (a "fonic hymn," he called it... What's that?). It made me
sleepy, and then this weird girl came in and attacked Van.
I was bored today, so I decided to make Mii characters of the Abyss cast. To get these for your 3DS:
I wanted to make Asch as well, but the lack of hair styles made it impossible. If anyone would like to give it a try, please be my guest. Don’t forget to share! :)
Luke Fon Fabre:
Natalia Luzu Kimlasca Lanvaldear:
Van Grants: (You can’t see it in the pictures, but he actually has a ponytail)
Yuri, you dick. No fair, share with us.
Bella: Also, I 100% agree about Tear's knife holding things.
