shouyouhinata:

I am putting this in the Haikyuu!! tag because I see this way too often, even on popular blogs that post fanart.

On Pixiv’s Help Pageyou must not reprint works posted on pixiv by others on any blogs or sites without their permission. So now, even if you have been crediting them since it is a Tumblr policy, for Pixiv, you MUST ask for permission! It is rude to the artist that you are claiming credit to their work without so much as asking them.

If you are worried you do not speak Japanese, there are plenty of resources here on tumblr you can check out:

  • user raspomme has tutorials (here too) on how to ask users not only in Japanese but in Korean and Chinese as well!
  • This very blog also has a Pixiv sourcing page included with artists who have and have not given me permission! If you request permission from HQ!! artists, please share with me that list so I may add it onto my own for further reference.
  • This also goes without saying that weheartit and zerochan (or any image sharing website) are not sources!

If you have any questions or concerns, you can message me! Or anyone! All I’m asking of the HQ!! fandom is to make sure you ask before posting images! The worst case scenario is that the artist takes down their works and that is honestly the last thing I would want. Please spread this around if you can, it would mean the world to me and most likely to the artists! Thank you.

could you source your stolen gifs and all the art you post thanks...if you can put "kitty's paw picked hentai" on hundreds of posts it shouldn't be too hard

Listen here, I’m tired of these asks and I’m gonna assume it’s one tiny bunch of anons constantly bombarding me with it. I don’t appreciate the passive aggressive last line there. Let me educate you on how this god damn blog works.

I don’t have time to look at hentai all day everyday, I spend like 10 minutes on Tumblr a day at most.

I don’t upload all the pictures one by one so NO I don’t put ”kitty’s paw picked hentai” on every single post myself. I batch upload them from my computer to a website which loads them all into my queue with 1 set of tags and captions.

And besides it’s not like I don’t source anyone at all. I don’t even need to source any at all, it’s too easy for you to reverse image search one picture if you want to know where it’s from whereas it would take me forever to do it for 70+ images a day. All YOU have to do is go to images.google.com and click the camera button.

If you want to see posts with sources go follow nsfwsenpai and anyone like him who has the free time that I don’t.

And now you know and hopefully none of you anons that said shit like that don’t bother other blogs about it too cause they’ll just give you the same answer. Have a good day and happy fapping!

LET

ME

FUCKING

EDUCATE

YOU

on how being a fucking goddamn decent human being works

listen here, I think you’ve misunderstood something very important. it’s not OUR responsibility to look things up and source for ourselves, that’s up to YOU. Whether you spend ten minutes or ten hours on tumblr makes absolutely SHIT of a difference, you still have to source your fucking art.

It’s not yours. I’m assuming you learned not to take what’s not yours growing up or did you miss that part of preschool? Doesn’t matter if you take it from a fucking gallery, IT’S STILL STOLEN ART. IT’S TAKEN WITHOUT THE PERMISSION OF THE ARTIST WHO SPENT HOURS WORKING ON IT. They did not spend that time for you to take their work and post it where they can’t see it and have no control over it.

Don’t talk to me about having no free time, I work two jobs and go to school full time and I STILL have the presence of mind not to post shit that’s not mine AND time to make sure the art I REBLOG is from tumblr artists since I know a lot of pixiv art is stolen even if it’s credited (but that’s another problem entirely that I doubt you’d be willing to listen to considering you think THIS is too much of a hassle). If it’s too much for you to make a little extra clicks to source your shit properly then fucking delete your blog and do something else with your life though I don’t know what considering there’s not a lot someone as fucking lazy as that can do. It’s a few CLICKS to make sure you’re giving even the minimal amount of respect to the people who give you shit to fucking fap to in the first place.

You think it’s just a little amount of anons heckling you over something insignificant? How far does your head have to be up your ass to be so ignorant?? The world may never know.

Dear people who upload my doujin,

sanuki-s:

Hi, I am 讃岐そば太郎.
I have decided to write to you, because I wanted to make my point clear about redistribution of my pics and doujin.

Usually I am happy to see my works being translated and I even enjoy reading them. I don’t stop people from translating my works and redistributing it.

But I am definitely against redistribution of a whole copy of doujin(book).

Recently I have found my copy of doujin, The Record being translated and shared on web. It was a full copy of my doujin.

Please understand the fact that I am actually selling doujin.
It is completely different from what I am doing on web.

I pay money to print it and pay even more to join doujin events.
I pay to send doujin to event halls and pay to send it back to my home.
I pay for my own transportation and I pay to hire people who sell my doujin on events(I pay for their working-hours, lunch, and transportation).

And people who are interested in my works also pay to read it.

I understand the fact that it is not easy to buy doujin abroad, and I guess even if it was available, you might feel that it is too expensive.

But even in Japan, doujin is not so cheap.
It is not cheap for both creators and readers.

If you think it is not worth the money your paying or you have to pay,
just stick with what you can find on web.
Stay away from uploading copies of doujin.

There are creators who really make money and earn living from doujin, but those who can do so, are minority. Most of us pay more than what we earn, but we still want to enjoy doujin as a hobby(or at least I do).

But obviously, if I can’t afford it, I have to start using my time for something else and give up on writing(creating manga doesn’t happen in a flash). That’s the last thing which will happen if people continue to upload my doujin on web.

I think I have made my point clear and I hope there are people who support what I am saying.

Also, I would like to articulate that what I wrote here is only “in my case”.

There are doujin-creators who are totally against redistribution of whatever they make or upload on web(“In my case” I don’t mind poeple to redistribute what I have already uploaded on web/usually it is pics and doujin-samples).

In that case you might find your self in trouble, so try asking the creator or if you find the word “転載禁止”, stay away from it.

Thanks for reading.

arietta-avril

They are the worst kind of art thief that concludes “i don’t own this lol” is proper credit and then decides to be horribly rude to anyone who calls them out on it! ex.

Well then go to the fucking facebook page and find it. Did you see anything that states that I own this?! I’m using a fucking ipad. I can’t search the artist. The page also didn’t indicate the artist. And read my fuckin description in my fucking blog dammit! Most of the photos I post don’t belong to me! Credits to the amazing owners. Art theft?! Shut the fuck up. If you got the problem? Post the artist too!

Please do not show support them by reblogging/liking their posts and promptly unfollow them if you do!

Thank you. c:

hi everyone. i’ve been informed by 毛星 on pixiv (user id 2964626) that they no longer want their works shared on tumblr. not sure if others who were granted permission got this msg as well but please be careful reblogging their works! i’m going to go through and edit what i can [photosets are easily removed] but for others i’ll probably contact dmca to get rid of the reblogs as well.
i don’t think i’ll be posting pixiv works even with permission [though i may reblog still] anymore because of cases like this, and in general i think it’s better for artists to have direct control of their works.
imo tumblr reaally isn’t the best interface for sharing pixiv artwork. twitter is a lot better bc there are more pixiv artists there to begin with and there’s even a ‘share on twitter’ button for pixiv! so, i would really recommend using twitter instead when it comes to this.
also if you still reblog unauthorized pixiv posts, or reposted art in general, please consider not doing that ‘cause it’s pretty shitty… thx.

IMPORTANT POST: PLEASE READ

inyous:

Can we please stop stealing people’s art without their consent?

Especially Japanese artists?

Because believe or not, when you take a dojinka’s art and post it somewhere else without permission, not only will you make them very sad (not to mention angry) when they find out, but you could cause them some serious legal problems as well.

I am not lying. Artists are in danger of losing everything they have if distribution of their parody work gets out of hand and the original publishing company gets wind of it (and decides to prosecute). Quite a few artists have already had their lives pretty much ruined because of the thoughtless actions of irresponsible western fans.

The reason why the dojinshi industry and sites like pixiv are even allowed to exist is because of the implicit understanding that artists who make parodies will control and limit the circulation of their digital artwork, and that printed dojinshi will only be made available to a limited audience. When you take an artist’s work and upload it somewhere else, you are taking away that control, and putting them at risk

Re-posting art without the artist’s explicit permission is not okay. Adding a source does not get you off the hook either. Neither does not adding a source at all, or saying you don’t know the artist. You took something that wasn’t yours without permission, and that means you stole it. Reblogging and liking such posts only gives re-posters the incentive to steal even more art - making the situation worse for the artist. For the love of god, have the decency to respect the rights of other human beings.

Still not convinced? Then let me take an example of an artist I’m sure you’re all familiar with: emi (of the 10-RANKAI circle).

Thousands of western fans have constantly been stealing her art for years. As a result, not only she has changed her website url multiple times, but has now renamed her circle in an effort to shake off the so-called fans who keep going against her wishes and stealing her work.

Unfortunately, her new url has already been found, and her gallery has been plundered of its copyrighted content. And it seems that re-posters can’t read, because they clearly don’t heed what she says on her site; in FOUR DIFFERENT LANGUAGES, including plain English:

image

DO NOT UPLOAD MY FANWORKS TO OTHER WEBSITES, COPY AND REPRODUCE THEM, PUBLISH THEM IN FANZINES WITHOUT PERMISSION.

There is absolutely no excuse for anyone to disrespect the wishes of artists like her in this manner. If this continues, she will no doubt block foreign servers from accessing her site, or perhaps even stop sharing her work with others altogether. I’ve seen this happen to so many other artists who couldn’t take this abuse before.

But pixiv artists don’t say they don’t allow re-uploads on their profiles.

That’s because it’s already prohibited in the terms of use, and they don’t feel the need to repeat it. You can even find it on the help page:

image

This art theft has gotten so fucking bad, a flipping union has been formed to try and protect amateur artists’ rights. I shit you not (and by the way, emi happens to be a member).

But where will I get my fanart?

You’re free to browse artist’s galleries, save art to your hard drive, and enjoy them at your leisure. Just don’t upload the art. It’s not yours. You have no right.

But I wanna share awesome pixiv art with my friends.

Then link them to it without re-uploading the damn image. It’s not hard.

But I wanna share art on my online communities.

There are many wonderful artists with tumblr accounts. Look for them, enjoy their work, reblog from them. Your support will inspire them to create more, and encourage other artists to come in (I can’t tell you how many times a tumblr artist has said they won’t make art for the SN/NS fandom because there are too many unscrupulous art thieves in it).

Quite a few Japanese artists are here too (a popular Korean narusasu artist, um-mmma, gets their art re-posted here all the time, yet they actually have a tumblr). You could always learn to draw as well. You might turn out to be good at it. It’s fulfilling to make your own fanwork (and it’ll also help you appreciate the feelings of other creators). If you can’t, you can always just ask artists if you can share their stuff.

But I don’t know Japanese!

Most pixiv artists have a basic grasp of English. Keep your sentences simple and they can manage. You can always make use of Google translate, and you could also use these templates. It’s not hard, and artists really appreciate it. Why give them headaches when you can make their day?

I asked the artist and they refused/I got no reply.

If the artist hasn’t replied, then do not re-post. If they say no, do not re-post. Ever.

Can’t we be more creative as a fandom and not get by through stealing? Is that how we’re going to support our pairing? Through plagiarism? Are we gonna keep appreciating dreadful thief blogs like sasunaruyaoigirl? Are we that desperate to get notes? Are we gonna keep abusing these artist until pixiv blocks out all foreign access? Tbh, our pairing tags are a fucking eyesore, far worse than almost any other Naruto pairing I’ve ever seen. We’re better than this. It’s possible (not to mention easy) to run a fandom blog without snatching art from somebody else.

STILL NOT CONVINCED?

Educate yo’self with these materials (x) (x).

Good night!

friendly reminder that if a pixiv artist has deleted their artwork, there’s a 99% chance it’s because they don’t want you reposting that shit elsewhere again for fuck’s sake

silversteampunk:

Artwork - [x]

wantstobelieve:

Most reposts have at least two of these three:

  • Discrepancy in watermark and name of poster should be the first red flag.

Watermarks should be the first thing anyone looks for. They’re usually small, on the fringes of the artwork. If it didn’t match name of poster, the post is most likely a repost or stolen material. If it’s just the actual artist under a different name, they will always let you know.

  • The post isn’t accredited to anyone, most likely because the reposter doesn’t care enough to know.

Also, if it’s sourced to an imageboard / google / facebook / weheartit / chan boards / pinterest / twitter / flickr / what have you that is not the actual website of the creator, assume it’s a repost. If it’s the tumblog of the actual artist, just head over to that tumblog and reblog from them instead.

  • Multiple, extensive tags that are vague in ownership

(#character’s name #show name #pairing name #awesome #otp #yaoi #gay #handsome men #other unrelated tags) are legit, but nowhere does it say that the image belongs to the poster. Usually artists would straight add unique tags like #shit i draw or #mine or something to that effect, to indicate ownership.

  • Please don’t reblog reposts! It really is that easy.
  • You can also report reposters to abuse@tumblr.com if you felt like taking that extra measure.

Reblogging reposts is as damaging as reposting, because it helps stolen work get circulation. Please be sure to check before you reblog and keep your blog repost-free.

Thank you for your time.

Look, I hate multi-fandom-tagged posts as much as anyone but enough is enough. To all you dickweeds that keep uploading unsourced Pixiv art, do you know what this is?This is what you see in your Pixiv bookmarks when the artist deletes the picture. My Pixiv bookmarks has a hell of a lot of these icons right now. I feel like every time I look theres another one there.Artists can take down their art for a variety of personal reasons, but lately, one of the biggest reasons is you SHITHEADS ON TUMBLR THAT KEEP ON UPLOADING STUFF WITHOUT SOURCING IT.
Do you have any idea how rude this is? Do you know how upsetting this is to the artists to see people steal their art and just post it wherever the fuck they feel like just because they ‘thought it was nice’?  I don’t give a shit if you think you’re being nice by ~letting people see the nice art~, the original artist was DOING THAT THEMSELVES ON THEIR PIXIV PAGE. Maybe you think ‘oh but if they dont like people stealing it they shouldnt have uploaded it to the internet in the first place’, but NEWSFLASH it doesnt matter what you think, it matters what the actual artist thinks and wishes and if you have a single iota of respect for them then you’ll respect those wishes of theirs for you to not just upload whatever the hell you want to tumblr without adding a source. If you want to promote some nice art, LINK BACK. If you’re too fucking lazy to look for the source using saucenao or reverse google image search then just delete your damn tumblr and go away because I don’t have time for your shit. Pixiv doesnt have time for your shit. It honestly wouldnt surprise me if Pixiv started up a feature that lets artists block anyone outside Japan from seeing their art if they so choose at this point.Always remember to credit the original artist and link back to the Pixiv page, as visibly as you can.

Bella, idk much about deviantart, but are renders allowed? Like if someone took something from pixiv and made a render.. is that seriously okay?? I found someone who did that and I'm just so pissed off. She doesn't credit much but when she does she links to zerochan. dsjgfhskjhfsjfh i reported and nothing happened but i'm scared to say anything

That’s definitely NOT okay. Unfortunately a lot of people do that, but it’s wrong since you’re still using someone else’s art without their consent.

It just makes it even worse when they credit to sites like safebooru and zerochan. I’ve reported quite a few a long time ago, but unfortunately Deviantart turns a blind eye to them. It’s a shame and make me feel horrible.
